Les Siècles’ musicians are thrilled to celebrate the opening of the Auditorium of Soissons.
As a part of our artistic residency that has started in 2007 in the department of Aisne, and of our partnership with the Conseil Général and ADAMA (Association for the Development of Musical Activities in Aisne), we are committed to offering an ambitious artistic project focused on pedagogy and sharing. This unique infrastructure, which associates artistic distribution and music education, will be a meeting place to exchange new practices, in the same spirit as the Atelier Symphonique de l’Aisne which gathers each year more than 90 students, Aisne amateur musicians, and Les Siècles.
The concert hall, inaugurated last February 2015, will host prestigious concerts with famous soloists and some of the finest French and European symphonic orchestras. Alongside these concerts, we will systematically set up educational activities with the inhabitants: school concerts, concerts for families, outdoor chamber music concerts, actions in schools, hospitals… We will ensure that these activities of a new kind are developed, in order for music to be regularly present in everyone’s life in Soissons.
Under the program for the first half of 2015, Les Siècles’ musicians will perform, as is their habit, on period instruments, suitable for each piece, with a French theme for this first season (Berlioz, Ravel, Debussy, Saint-Saëns). One concert will gather Les Siècles and teaching musicians from the Aisne department’s conservatories, to perform The Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns and Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. We will also work with three of the most brilliant soloists of the current international scene: clarinetist Pascal Moragues, Gautier Capuçon with the National Orchestra of Lorraine and Kit Armstrong with the Orchestra of Picardie. The effervescent British vocal ensemble Voces 8 will end the season with a program following the great traditions of Anglo-Saxon vocal ensembles.
